On August 13th, our rebel was inspected and declared airworthy in the experimental category! This is the end of an almost four year building period. We are very excited and I'm now getting some dual time in other taildraggers before leaving the earth in ours. I have been doing lots of taxiing and mental prep. I should be ready in 2 weeks. Check back and see if I hit my mark

Wow! I've been having so much fun flying that I forgot to tend to this site! Well, I almost made my mark. I said two weeks and it was actually September 1 when I first flew our plane. I have to say I was very nervous but lost most of that when the wheels left the ground. It all felt very familiar to me, thanks in part to my friend Scott letting me fly his rebel beforehandSo far I have 37 hours on the tach and have visited mountains, glaciers and dry river beds, all within the 150 mile radius given to me by my DAR. Everything is working perfectly with a few little items to tweak. Those who have built and flown know the feeling I get as I leave the ground! To anyone building their own plane I say "Go! Go! Go! You won't believe how cool it is!

A lot has happened in the last few months. We sold our home and have moved to a new place in Wasilla complete with an airstrip and a hangar. Painting is complete and we had our first engine start on July 27. Everything worked well with no leaks or problems! I have been taxiing up and down the strip still getting ready for the final inspection. More photos are in the 'Final Assembly' album. We should be airborne in August!
